About Sitecore Astro JSS SDK
The exdst/jss-astro-public GitHub repository provides an open-source SDK and sample implementation for integrating Sitecore JavaScript Services (JSS) with the Astro web framework. It enables developers to build fast, modern, headless websites powered by Sitecore content using Astro's island architecture. The project includes tools for local development, production setup, and a CLI initializer to streamline new project creation. It supports Experience Editor integration and is designed for use with Sitecore XM Cloud or traditional Sitecore Headless SXA setups.

The EXDST Astro Verticals Demo is a high-performance, headless Sitecore implementation built with the Astro framework, offering full feature parity with Sitecore’s official Next.js demo while significantly improving performance and developer experience. It supports SSG, SSR, ISR, multisite, multilingual capabilities, and deployment to platforms like Vercel and Netlify. Benchmarking shows faster load times and higher Lighthouse scores compared to Next.js, thanks to Astro’s minimal JavaScript and server-first architecture. The use of React components enabled rapid development, and visual regression testing ensured pixel-perfect results, making Astro a strong, modern alternative for Sitecore frontends.
